Diablo 2 exceptional items
Then you have a weapon with +4 Amazon Skills and +6 Javelin and Spear Skills. Forge it with +1 ZOn and add 3 +1 Zon jewels that are +1 jav/spear forged. The +3 jav/spear from the partial set is nice, especially when the weapon has 3 open sockets and a moderate lvl req.
The weapon can be end game material, especially if you can keep a second piece of the set. This set could actually work well through Hell. YOu will be better off saving up for Alaziel's Set. having all my characters be equipped with mediocre sets.īill, in all likelyhood you should forgot Lixo's set. So unless a major redesign of sets was doable, I'd prefer one of my characters to be under-equipped and the rest equipped with powerful sets vs. Even if it was, it would require a lot of sets to be altered and respecced and that would be pretty time consuming. Now, maybe the set bonus could be tweaked to boost the weaker item back up to match the original item's values and still have the same level requirements for the set, I don't know enough about modding D2 to know if this is doable. The problem with #2 is that it's great when you don't have a higher level character to get the item, but if you do you wind up with a weaker set because the base item will be weaker (e.g. Fiddle with the sets by substituting lower-level items where needed so that they'll be available to be gambled right around the level required to use them. The way it is now, where you'll often need a high level character to gamble/create items for your lower level characters.Ģ. But that's a coding issue that I doubt ES can do anything about.ġ. What would really be nice is if when there is a conflict between a set/unique's ilvl and the generic ilvl of that item type that the gambling formula used the -lower- ilvel instead of the higher one. And by then the usefulness of the set is debatable compared to what else you have available to you. For instance, Jaheira's Tenacity is the level 60 Druid set, but due to the gauntlets having a generic_ilvl of 85 I'd need to be level 90-95 or use the Act 5 Hell gambling chits to have a reasonable chance to get it. Then that character can easily twink all the characters that follow.īut that first character will always be behind the curve when it comes to outfitting, due to the generic_ilvl so often being higher than the set_ilvl, thus creating the situation where you often can't gamble for the medium and high level sets/uniques in a timely fashion. The way it is now probably the best approach if you are planning on creating/playing lots of characters is to start off running your first character to as high a level as you can (and get to Act V in Hell, so you can get the Hell level gambling chits).
